On the weekend the grand opening of our new downtown Park was celebrated and after the opening, Kindred Spirits Artisans of Paris held a brief ceremony to award prizes to elementary school students who participated in the recent Kindred Spirits’ Springtime in Paris Art Contest.
Kindred Spirits’ Springtime in Paris Art Contest
Last month, Kindred Spirits announced an art contest involving students attending the local schools in Paris. The theme was, of course, “Springtime in Paris” and each young artist who entered advised that they could work in any media, depicting their vision of Springtime in our lovely community. A large number of Kindergarten to Grade 8 students participated in the contest, resulting in many interesting entries. It was a real thrill to note that we have many budding young artists here in Paris.
The Winners were as follows:
Erin Hurnack, age 5; Liam Gaukel, age 6; Niamh Gomm, age 12; Lauren Millward, age 13; Reid Beasley, age 13; and Shelby Fazekas, age 13.
A big THANK YOU goes out to all the schools and teachers who provided assistance with this project; Calendar Club for providing some excellent prizes for the students; and Paris Public Library for collecting the artwork for us. Kindred Spirits purchased the balance of prizes. It is very rewarding to see so many community-minded businesses and volunteers pulling together to help us help the children of Paris in their art aspirations.
